  1. You misspelled history. The "O" comes after the "T."

    1. Roughly, yes. I don't think he set a definite date, but it is around then.

  3. On desktop, the items on the side (Homework/current events/ pageant) do not appear. It is a brown map themed wallpaper. The blue map wallpaper with the items on the side only show up after you comment.

    3. This is not a complaint, but rather an inquiry. Why, if you are on a standard desktop computer, are you directed to a version of the site other than the web version? Shouldn't the option then be to view the mobile version?

  4. Who would Hamilton and Jefferson vote for in the Senatorial and Gubernatorial election?

    1. That's the basis of this project. I think we're supposed to be making connections between problems from both colonial times and today, and also making educated guesses based on our knowledge of these men for the newer problems.

  5. Sooooooo... Who do you think they would vote for?

    1. It doesn't matter what I think. It matters what you think. There is no right or wrong answer.

  6. But do you have any suggestions?

    1. Just look at their ideas of what the government should be. Jefferson wanted a very loose, hands-off government, so that pretty much narrows your choices down

    2. I suggest you complete the assignment.

  7. Remember, Mr. Schiavo is looking for a unique perspective. The crazier the idea, the better the grade.

In other words, try to go beyond Jefferson's and Hamilton's renowned philosophies.

    1. What do you define as a "unique perspective"? Care to give examples

    2. Like do you mean Hamilton and Jefferson's view on the constitution or that third contemporary of the time period. Its hard to argue for a belief that hamilton wanted a hands off agrarian society lol

    3. Hold on a minute, that's not necessarily true John. Are you saying that we should make things up about them? "Crazier" was not a solid choice of words. Yes, you should not be basic and state the obvious, but you should not go "crazy" about it. I don't think you should say anything regarding the principles of these men that you do not know to be true

    4. I don't think arguing that Jefferson wanted Communism would be correct. There's no evidence showing that. There are only so many ways you can characterize these guys based on their actions and speeches

    5. Schaivo would rather see us pick a contemporary with less information on him. Someone no one else in the grade did. We would probably get a better grade if we did someone less renown then lets say James Madison.

    6. Actually, stating the obvious is one of the key ideas that can help solve any problem.

    7. When I say crazy, I mean out of the ordinary while still being able to support it with research.

  8. This doesn't really relate to the game, but in your opinion who's political philosophy was better, Thomas Jefferson or Alexander Hamilton?

    1. Definitely Thomas Jefferson. Hamilton was elitist, he didn't trust the people to govern, he believed in national government over state and local governments, etc.

  9. On his return from France, Jefferson brought his love of that nation’s cuisine back with him. James Hemings went to France as his slave, and the pair agreed that if Hemings learned how to make French cuisine, he would be freed on his return to America.

  10. He was also obsessed with fossils and was involved in a great debate about the mammoth that became a political cause. Jefferson raised the profile of paleontology as president, and he has a mammoth named after him.

  11. He took violin lessons as a child and played the violin as he courted his future wife, Martha Skelton. Jefferson spent considerable time studying the violin as an instrument, but by 1778 he complained about music being played in the New World as being in a “state of deplorable barbarism.”

    1. Evidently, you have done your research. Perhaps you should have kept these facts to yourself, and typed them up into your fact sheet rather than on the blog, where everybody can take advantage of your work.

      Delete
    2. I thought Mr. Schiavo didn't want this kind of info on the fact sheet.
      -Kevin Meglathery

      Delete
    3. He doesn't. Only use info that will effect their voting status.

    4. maybe jeffersons fascination with fossils would lead him to supporting environmental protection agencies. And his love of French cuisine impacted his choices for foreign affairs. And maybe his denouncing music would lead him to supporting a candidate that doesn't want to spend money supporting the arts in school. Schiavo would want this kind of info on the fact sheet

  12. When we are talking about the Senatorial election, should we pretend that it has not yet occurred? Or do we say something like "I would have voted for..." or "I already voted for..."?

  14. This is due tomorrow night for period 7 since we don't have class right?

    1. No, Mr. Shaivo said that the game is due tomorrow. We just have to pop in his room sometime before the end of the day and give him our assignment.
